Tagaytay Trip
My brother and I were in Tagaytay last 06x07 July 2022. While eating at McDonaldâs McCafĂ© on the sixth, we had the privilege of seeing this creature:
Perched on the fence
It turns out to be an Atlas moth, one of the worldâs largest moths. It looks like a female from the way it looks and behaves; feel free to correct me as Iâm not an expert on these things (I just depend on what Wikipedia says).

I hope that it mated successfully, fulfilling its purpose. Itâs quite depressing to know they exist just to mate, but then we must refrain from anthropomorphising other creatures.
Bonus pic: the view from the ravine near the café. Nice clouds.
On the seventh, we dined in at a restaurant named Mang Jose Lechon at Inasal. The location is quite nice, like your typical resto bar. The painted comics on the wall calls oneâs attention.
Their menu at that time:
The restobarâs (Iâm gonna call it that) inspiration seems to be the song Mang Jose by Parokya ni Edgar, referenced in their menu:
âINASAL AT LECHON HATID SAINYO NG SUPER HERO NA PWEDENG ARKILAHIN!â
The item Isol (Ass) was quite intriguing.
Apparently, this is chicken butt. We didnât order one though, opting instead for Pecho Chicken Inasal, Adobong Kangkong, and Calamansi Juice. Unfortunately, the food is quite meh. The calamansi juice is way too sweet for our tastes; perhaps it was intended for children (yuck!).
I also managed to take a picture of this bird from inside the restobar. Unfortunately, I donât know the species. The image is quite dark as it was quite rainy that day.
In summary:
- Atlas moths are amazing af.
- Mang Jose Lechon at Inasal is not recommended. There are a lot of way nicer dining places in Tagaytay. It doesnât have to be more expensive, as per my post last year.
