Filipino slang
This is a buffet order slip.
Notice the word “chit”? Apparently, it means “restaurant bill” in Filipino slang, also known as “check” or “cheque” in English (and perhaps other languages).
When asking for the bill in a casual restaurant, Filipinos will usually raise their hands to get the waiter’s attention, draw a rectangle in the air, and mouth the words “bill out”. Apparently the older generation will say “chit”. I personally haven’t observed or heard this; that’s why this slip caught my attention.
Trying to search chit online only yielded these:
- Noypi Ka Ba? (Mga Gawi at Ugali)
- Translation meaning & definition of the word “chit” into Tagalog language
Or perhaps I’m completely wrong. Email me your thoughts.
