This is organised in terms of “segments”.
- It consists of a start and end destination.
- It may be taken using different modes, like jeepneys, buses, taxis, or planes.
- It may be taken through a different route.
- For example, a Manila to Dasmariñas segment might pass through town A, an another to town B.
- But since the start and destinations are the same, they will be grouped together under the Manila-Dasmariñas segment.
- It might have a map.
- It might have fares associated with it.
- It might have a date and/or time.

Also in Philippine English, “commute” specifically means taking public transportation to travel from one place to another.
