This is among my very first bird videos.

They are residents here in my area, possibly numbering more than a dozen. I hear them around 07:00 to 09:00, hanging out together with the matang dulong.

As per Wikipedia, there are six recognised subspecies. Based on my location, I believe my companions are of the nominate subspecies P. g. goiavier, found in northern and north-central Philippines.

According to this Haribon post, “[T]he term bulbul is derived from the Persian word for nightingale”. Wiktionary agrees, the Persian word being بلبل, transliterated as bolbol. The sounds like bulbol in Filipino, which means “pubic hair”.
