Lonely Travels: [10 Apr 2023] SM DasmariƱas: The Sandwich Guy
tl;dr:
- Donāt eat at The Sandwich Guy, at least in their SM DasmariƱas branch. Youāll just waste your money. Unless your standard of quality is Jollibee, then youāll be blown away.
- Just go to Subway instead. If you donāt like them for their corporate history, then just make your own; it will be cheaper to boot, so win-win.
According to my brother, The Sandwich Guy is not good. So I tried it.
This is what I ordered, and the prices as of 10 Apr 2023:
| Item | Price, ā± |
|---|---|
| Veggie Delight | 120.00 |
| Coffee with unlimited refills | 60.00 |
| TOTAL | 180.00 |
What I got:
As you can see, the sandwich does not look too appetizing. Yes itās hexagonal, but the novelty wears off quite quickly.
Taking a bite, I was disappointed; this is just like the failed breakfast sandwich I make. The coffee tastes diluted; I saw how it was made, and itās just pre-ground coffee put into a drip type machine. But itās unlimited, so I guess Iāll just drown with it my regrets giving money to this chain. Sadly, I managed to drink just three cups due to slow service. To be fair, there seems to be a lot of orders during my visit, so I wonāt take points away for that.
In comparison, I pretty much only order this in Subway:
- Veggie Delite: parmesan oregano bread with cheese, all veggies, mayo, and Chipotle sauce. When feeling fancy, I will request additional cheese.
- A cup of brewed coffee
My bill for that tallies to ā±200.00 - ā±300.00. Yes, that is about twice to thrice that of The Sandwich Guy. I guess you do get what you paid for.
By the way, Subway just opened its branch in SM DasmariƱas. If The Sandwich Guy wants to stay open, then they should up their game and improve their not-so-good food. But then again, there are many Filipinos that are fans of Jollibee and other Yum! brands, so perhaps they donāt really need to change anything in order to survive. Time will tell, I guess.
As for me, Iāll pass on this chain. Iāll just buy Subway or make my fail sandwich breakfast which costs a lot less.
Aside: what the hell, Google?
